The starting parameters on the Diamondback are often more aggressive than many people are used to running their end mills. We where recently sent a message via our Facebook page...
"Why the chip must be thick anyways? would not it be better and easier for the tool and its life to cut thin chips?" The simple answer is that we form a chip differently than others, it's part of our patented DVH design. "Thats why I insisted to ask you first, but what would happen if the chip load is quite thinner than the optimum?" If you run too light of a chip load the tool can load up, a built up edge will start and eventually lead to galling and failure. |
Destiny Tool Diamondback Starting Parameters
Below are two shared posts from our customers on Instagram. As you can see the geometry is very aggressive on the Diamondback and it WANTS to be fed material. STARTING Machining parameters are on the right. Watch both videos.
And we are underway with a few roughing tool paths. Currently you are watching a 3 flute 1/2" @destinytool Diamondback at full pocket depth, .75", with .2" radial cuts. There was no rhyme or reason for the 275 ipm, just thought that I would start there. The rougher can most definitely be pushed much harder. |
