Angelo: "We want to test out your tools on some new adaptive clearing software we're developing and see how it works at the true cutting limits."

Bernie: "Ok, So we get to try to break your software and you get to try and break our end mills!
Cool!"

Bernard Martin Autodesk Adaptive Clearing
Bernard Martin visits Autodesk At Pier 9
We visited with Angelo Juras and CJ Abraham at Autodesk on Pier 9 in San Francisco in late January.  Angelo had talked to us at the PRI Show about paying him a visit because he really wanted to run some of our end mills after following us for quite a while on instagram.

Angelo and CJ work on the advanced development of Autodesk HSM with a current focus on adaptive clearing. Take a look at our video below and check back often as we'll continue to update this post with some test results!

Oh!, And don't forget to give Angelo a follow on IG @the_true_croatian_sensation, CJ @cj.abraham and, of course, @autodesk ...so you can follow the progress of them pushing the limits of our end mills.

IMTS 2016 Harry Moser explaining Reshoring for Small Contract Manufacturers

11/2/2016

PictureHarry Moser, Founder, Reshoring Initiative
Harry Moser from the Reshoring Initiative stopped by our IMTS 2016 booth to talk about the progress of reshoring manufacturing to North American shores.

Reshoring is the practice of bringing manufacturing and services back to the U.S. from overseas. It’s a fast and efficient way to strengthen the U.S. economy because it helps balance the trade and budget deficits, reduces unemployment by creating good, well-paying manufacturing jobs, and fosters a skilled workforce. Reshoring also benefits manufacturing companies by reducing the total cost of their products, improving balance sheets, and making product innovations more effective.

The Reshoring Initiative is focused on helping companies shift collective thinking from “offshoring is cheaper” to “local reduces the total cost of ownership.”

Harry explained how small contract manufacturing shops can use his Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Calculator, for free, to convince their customers to keep the existing machining on our shores. He suggested asking your customers:
"Is there anything you are thinking about moving off shore, or better yet, is there anything you are getting from off-shore where you are having delivery issues, quality issues, intellectual property issues, travel, too much late night telephone calls, anything that is causing you pain,... and how can we take away the pain?"
We also talked about how small machine shops can innovate more as more machining business reshores. At Destiny Tool we believe that reshoring stimulates even more new innovation and, candidly, helps us innovate new products and solutions because of our customers feedback about machining.

Here's the video below. We hope you find it helpful in growing your business.

Harry Moser & The Reshoring Initiative

Picture
Harry Moser founded the Reshoring Initiative in 2010 to bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. Prior to the starting the Initiative, he held leadership positions at GF Machining Solutions, formerly known as GF AgieCharmilles, where he began in 1985 as the company’s president and retired in 2010 as Chairman Emeritus.

Harry's reshoring efforts have been widely recognized. In 2010, he was inducted into the Industry Week Manufacturing Hall of Fame and was named Quality Magazine’s Quality Professional of the year in 2012.

Harry has actively participated in President Obama’s Insourcing Forum at the White House in January 2012. He also won The Economist debate in January 2013 on outsourcing and offshoring, and received the Manufacturing Leadership Council’s Industry Advocacy Award in 2014.

Destiny 5-3's by 7-1 Promo: 5 Viper End Mills 3 Fluters $119

4/4/2016

In the history of Destiny Tool we have not had a tool promotion.  This is the first.

Here's how it started.
We've had such a wonderful following on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube of customers posting their success stories with our Viper End Mills in 6061, 7075, Brass, Bronze and Copper, making Aerospace  Defense, Racing components and medical products that we wanted to thank them ALL for their support with a special offer...

But then we started talking about it here at the factory...

Then we talked to with several of our regional manager's and distributors and to some machine shops...

Frankly, it just didn't seem fair to only offer some special pricing just to our loyal followers,

"We should offer it to EVERYONE and EVERYONE should thank all of our loyal followers for making this promotion happen!"
So here's the deal.  Between now and June 30 2016, you can purchase 5 Destiny Viper 3 Flute End MIlls as a SET
  • 1 each V33220 - 1/2" diameter, 3 flute, 1-1/4" LOC, 3" OAL
  • 1 each V32416 - 3/8" diameter, 3 flute, 1" LOC, 2-1/2" OAL
  • 1 each V31608 - 1/4" diameter, 3 flute, 1/2" LOC, 2" OAL
  • 1 each V31210 - 3/16" diameter, 3 Flute 5/8" LOC, 2" OAL
  • 1 each V30805 - 1/8" diameter, 3 flute, 5/16" LOC, 1-1/2" OAL
You must use ORDER CODE: V3KIT5 for these items.

It's only $119 for the entire kit.  This promotion ends at midnight June 30, or at 12:01am on July depending on whom you talk to.
Picture
All we ask is one thing from you. Say Thank You to the people that made this promotion happen by picking one of the following:
  1. Follow the #DestinyTool hashtag on Instagram and thank some of the people who have posted video's and pictures of their Destiny Viper experiences, or
  2. Check out our Facebook page and the folks who have shared their Destiny Viper experiences and thank or LIKE their page!. A Lot of small business that can always use your support with a LIKE.
  3. Or you can visit our YouTube Channel; We've favorited many of our customer's video's so you can find them and give them some LIKE!

Give them a big thank you to each of them for making this special pricing promotion happen because we can't ever thank them enough for their continued loyalty and support!

the fine print:
  • THIS PROMOTION MUST BE ORDERED THROUGH YOUR LOCAL DISTRIBUTOR.
  • NO DIRECT ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT DESTINY TOOL

Welcome to the NEW Destiny Tool Website!

1/18/2015

Welcome!

We've spent a lot of time putting together our new website together just for you! We've tried to make it as interactive and as helpful as possible to machinist who need information at their fingertips right at their CNC Machine.
  1. The first thing you should look at is our HOMEPAGE <<< You'll notice that we've loaded it with links to our social media so you can contribute your stories, questions and insights into how-to get the most production increases and reduce cycle time in your shop!
  2. The second thing you should check out is our QUICK LINKS mobile landing page. The entire website is designed for using it on a mobile phone! We've tried to make it easy for you to literally put your fingertips right on the answers to all of your questions as fast as possible!
  3. In case you haven't noticed already, we've made everything hotlinked! We figured that since you're visiting us on a mobile device we shouldn't have to ask "where do I find out what they're talking about" so any time you see  something in bold type and highlighted, like "Tell me about ABOUT your company" you can just click on the bold colored link!
One of the biggest complaints we've heard in the past about cutting tool websites is that they all assume that everyone has the same level of technical knowledge.  We realize that some people know more than others just because they've got more experience. We've tried to put together a TECHNICAL section that answers many of the frequently-asked-questions as well as some of the more advanced application issues WE hear about on a weekly basis. Be sure to take  a look at the drop down menu's of technical information.  You may just be surprised what we've hidden on some of those pages!

If this is your first time hearing about Destiny Tool, then you should know what  we are NOT like everyone else who makes end mills.  We understand the details and we hope our new website depicts our attention to detail. We provide a niche solution for very specific materials and in-depth technical support.  You'll notice that we've used the ISO 513 standard for coding all of our tools and speed and feed charts. We where the FIRST manufacturer of end mills in the world to adopt this color coding schema when we introduced our 2012 catalog.

Materials we machine at a high performance level

Picture
NonFerrous - We LOVE  aluminum! We've been roughing and finishing in non-ferrous materials for over 25 years! Our Viper and Diamondback are MADE for these materials!

Picture
Cast Iron- With the tremendous advances in CNC milling machines, software and controlled TIR in Toolholders companies can now really take advantage of our Python series end mills

Picture
Stainless Steel - We love Stainless Steel machining!  Yes, we love non ferrous, but Stainless Steel alloys are neck and neck as our favorite material to cut.  We've spent a great deal of time engineering our Raptor DVH and Raptor 3/6 just for this material

Picture
Steel - Just as with Cast Iron our Python series end mills have quickly become a top performer.  We've had some great feed back on these tools in many types of Steel. Our Raptor and Raptor 3/6 are also proving to be exceptional performers in this material group.

Picture
High Temp Alloys - Have you noticed a trend? We like soft gummy hard-to-machine materials. We specialize in it!
Our Raptor DVH and Raptor 3/6 tools are THE performance tool in the market. We don't say that lightly. We feel that we can outrun and outperform just about every competitor out there. Give us a try and you tell us!

Picture
Hard Materials - Our Raptor series end mills have started to quickly become a top performer in hard milling.  The Raptor 3/6, with it's unique geometry is starting to really make an impact in hard milling applications.  We've also been developing some more advanced edge preparations for longer run production jobs so be sure to give us a call and ask about them!

When End Mill Performance Matters

We offer a high performance product line for those companies that want to reduce cycle time and improve finishes first and foremost.  That's our goal.  Our SUBSTRATE, GEOMETRY, TOLERANCES and COATINGS are developed with specific materials groups in mind. As a result we provide solutions to the aerospace, defense, medical device, firearms, wafer manufacturing, auto racing, and cutting edge new product innovations.

In closing, welcome YOU to our new website.  YOU are on the news feed.  The news tab is going to be ALL about YOU. We want YOUR feedback, We want YOUR input!  If you do nothing else please check out our TEST TOOL POLICY.  We WANT you to test our tools.  If you run them and fill out a TEST TOOL REPORT we'll give you the tools for free AND we'll post the result right here on our NEWS feed and help promote YOUR company. We want to share YOUR success stories and your experiences!  REQUEST A CONSULTATION today! Isn't it time to let everyone know how good you are?

Diamond Back End Mill Max's Out The Workpiece

2/16/2011

This test was performed at the Technical-Industrial Lab at Washtenaw Community College.
"Testing the capabilities of a 3 flute Diamondback serrated rougher endmill from Destiny Tool. This is our second test with the endmill and we have NOT YET MAXIMIZED THE TOOL NOR THE MACHINE. Instead we appear to have maxed out the workpiece...it started flexing like crazy once the bulk of the material had been removed removed (the base is only 0.175" thick).

We also made some features using other Destiny endmills, all 3 flute Viper stealth coated DVH. The stubby endmills could probably take a larger cut but the programmer didn't want to break them just to find out.

The machine is a 15 horsepower [sticker] Haas VF-2. We cannot push the machine any faster with this roughing setup, so we have to instead take bigger and bigger cuts in order to ping it. This workpiece's load never exceeded 40% except for the breakthroughs. How much faster will this tool go?
Our previous tests were with a 2 flute version of the same endmill, at similar speeds, but using a higher chipload. We are wondering if the 3 flute version needs more room to evacuate a giant 0.015" loaded chip....?"
